Portraits, Landscapes, and
Religious Paintings
by Cathey Cadieux
A resident of Malibu, California, Cathey Cadieux is a portrait, figure, and landscape artist working in oil and pastels who derives much of the inspiration for her paintings from biblical scripture as well as from the natural beauty surrounding her.
About fifteen years ago, Cathey (who was raised Christian) became interested in studying Judaism and the Bible from the Jewish perspective. At that time, as she was painting “In Pastures Green,” she began signing her paintings not with her name but with the Hebrew phrase L’Ma’an Sh’Mo (“for His Name’s sake”) as a way of exalting God rather than herself.
A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Cathey is a signature member of the California Art Club and Pastel Society of America, as well as a member of the Portrait Society of America.
One of her paintings, “Malibu Winter Sunset, View from My Bedroom,” was selected to be the cover for the book California Light: A Century of Landscapes (Paintings of the California Art Club), published in 2011.
In addition, several of her seascapes are included in the recently published book, Painting California: Seascapes and Beach Towns.
